Our Clinical Team

Values in Care provide specialist support and development opportunities for individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Our Clinical team is led by Linda Newton

Linda is a registered learning disability nurse and has worked for over 30 years in a variety of settings in both health care settings and independent sectors.

Linda holds a Master’s Degree in “Positive Approaches to Challenging Behaviour” and has worked extensively in both Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Services with younger adults in varied settings including nursing and community services. She has been employed as part of a specialist team with Cardiff & the Vale NHS Trust and Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust as a Behavioural Specialist and undertook this role for 10 years supporting the closure of Cardiff’s’ main learning disability institution. Linda has dedicated her career to working with individuals who display challenging behaviour; undertaking responsibility for training staff in organisations committed to dealing with complex behaviour. This led to her co-ordinating “Preventing & Responding to Aggressive Behaviour” a training package devised for Cardiff and the Vales NHS Trust in 1996, which won a training award in 1997. This training package (Positive Behaviour Management/Support) continues to be implemented throughout England and Wales as the model of support for residents who challenge services.

Supporting Linda within the Clinical Team are:

  • Assistant Behavioural Specialist
  • Psychology Graduate
  • Aspergers and Autism specialist (Qualified to Master level)
  • Five Positive Behavioural Management Trainers
  • TEACHH Therapist
  • Touch Therapist
  • Holistic Therapists
  • Rebound Therapy

Values in Care’s clinical team work directly with both primary and secondary health care teams ensuring each service user’s health needs are dealt with in a pro-active way. When supporting individuals with complex communication and behavioural issues it is vital that the supporting staff are trained and experienced in observation and monitoring skills. All staff teams supporting individuals with specific healthcare requirements receive pro-active training in these areas. Values in Care have a great deal of experience working alongside all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
