Famous faces from all corners of the silver screen attended Values In Care’s 2021 Movie Day to compete in a costume competition.

On 4th May (aka Star Wars Day), Values In Care challenged people supported at our services to dress up as their favourite movie character for a virtual event.

We were joined by Darth Vader, Mickey Mouse, Disney Princess Belle, Freddie Mercury and the Cat In The Hat, to name just a few.

Captain Jack Sparrow, Buzz Lightyear and the Happy Feet penguins also put in an appearance, as did Harry Potter, Elsa from Frozen and many other film faves.

Everyone worked hard on their costumes, with some terrific creativity going into the famous outfits.

During the virtual event, each contestant came on camera and the judges marked their efforts with scorecards. All scores were tallied up at the end to reveal the winners.

According to Vocational Services Manager Lucy Williams, there were some excellent efforts.

Lucy said: “We were wowed and thrilled by our silver screen competitors!

“Movie Day was all about celebrating our love for the cinema, so the people we support got to dress up as their fave film stars and watch their most-loved flicks.

“In the end, we crowned Bohemian Rhapsody’s Freddie Mercury – aka Stephen from Maes Y Bryn – our winner as he looked amazing and sang ‘I Want To Break Free’ for us.

“Gemma from Sunshine House took home second prize for her brilliant Thomas The Tank Engine ensemble, we particularly liked to see The Fat Controller and James the Tank Engine there too.

“Finally, in third, we awarded Jemma from Lombard for her magical Cat In The Hat costume.”

The winners received vouchers as their prize, and  £5 was donated to charity for every participant.

The total raised was £125 for Happy Days,  Charity of the year.
