Clinical Team

Values in Care have a Clinical Team which is led by our qualified Behavioural Specialist supported by an Assistant Behavioural Specialist, five qualified Positive Behaviour Management Trainers accredited by ABM ULHB, a TEACCH Co-ordinator, Touch Therapist, two Holistic Therapists and also includes additional advice and support from other appropriately qualified staff within the company. The team are experienced in providing positive support that can evidence reductions in levels of anxiety and distress.

The Clinical team monitors the effectiveness and review of positive behavioural support plans (including the use of physical Interventions if appropriate), risk assessments, care plans, relapse plans and the sharing of good practice issues across the company.

All staff within the organisation are trained and supervised in Positive Behavioural Management approaches, including interpretation and implementation of Support Plans based on full needs and risk assessments. Staff receive full training in this area with much emphasis placed on supporting staff recording observations in a clear and concise manner.

Assessment, review and monitoring

There is a robust assessment, monitoring and review system in place within Values in Care for all service users as follows:

  • Pre- admission assessment is undertaken to ensure a full and comprehensive   knowledge of the individuals needs, this assessment also takes compatibilities with other residents into consideration.
  • Comprehensive careplan is drawn up on the basis of the assessed need and Unified Assessment.
  • A PBSP is devised (or followed in the event of an individual who already has a plan in place).
  • Risk assessments are drawn up.
  • Relapse plans are drawn up.
  • Staff undertake daily monitoring and recording of all observations including behaviour monitoring records.
  • Core team undertake 4 weekly review of care plan and risk assessments.
  • Behavioural specialist undertakes 4 weekly review of PBS Plan and relapse plans or more frequently if required.
  • Each service user has a full multi-disciplinary/multi-agency review 6 weeks after admission and six monthly thereafter.
  • Appropriate pro-active amendments are made in terms of inputs when identified to be required though the above monitoring and review of outcomes and wellbeing process
  • Values in Care recognises the importance of having experienced consistant staff supporting those with complex communication needs to that end we have never used agency staff within our services, we believe strongly that staff familiarity and consistency is essential in supporting those with complex needs and ASD.
